MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University baseball team fell to Walsh University in a 7-inning non-conference contest on Thursday afternoon. The Hawks scored their lone run in the bottom of the third inning as Jordan Turner singled to right field to drive in Josh Tripp.

Chowan recorded five hits in the contest, as Turner led the Hawks at the plate with two hits and an RBI. Jacob Howard, KJ Durand Jr., and Josh Tripp each added a hit, while Tripp crossed the plate for Chowan recording a run.
The Hawks turned to five pitchers in the matchup. Marcus Byrd made the start, tossing 1.1 innings and picking up the loss on the mound. Landon Tyndall followed with 1.2 innings of work before Ethan Pukas added 1.0 inning on the mound. Zackary Wilson contributed 2.0 innings, while Dawson Wiggins closed out the game with a strong final inning, striking out three while allowing no hits and one run.

Chowan opens a three-game conference series against Emmanuel College on Friday, March 6. The teams will begin the series with a single 9-inning game scheduled for 1:00 PM at Hawkins Field, followed by games two and three on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
