ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - The Chowan University men's and women's tennis team continued with their action packed week with a road match at Elizabeth City State University on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks men's team faced off against Virginia State University, coming away with a 7-0 sweep of the Trojans. The women's team faced off against Virginia State University and Elizabeth City State University, coming away with 5-2 and 7-0 wins.

WOMEN
vs. VSU
Top seeded Marcia Aragon picked up a 6-0, 6-1, while Diva Datta won 6-2, 6-2 at the #4 singles position. Victoria Videla picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win at the #5 singles while Isabella Turner battled out a #6 singles position win in a three-set tie break. The Hawks took two out of three doubles matches to pick up the doubles point. Aragon and Feidi Abreu Rodriguez paired up to take the top doubles win at 6-2 while Datta and Turner grabbed a 7-5 win in the #3 doubles match.
vs. ECSU
The Hawks kept the momentum moving forward into their match with the homestanding Vikings, picking up a 7-0 win to move to 2-1 on the year. Abreu Rodriguez and Videla took the top doubles in at 6-4, followed by a 6-3 #2 doubles win by Lerma and Vera. At the #3 doubles, Turner and Datta won over their opponents 6-2 to secure the doubles sweep and earn the first match point.
Aragon took #1 singles 6-1, 6-0. Abreu Rodriguez played #2 singles, getting a decisive 6-0, 6-1 win. Lerma took the #3 singles position win 6-1, 6-1 while Datta secure a 6-4, 6-3 in at the #4 singles. At the #5 singles, Lerma picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win and Turner picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at the #6 singles.
MEN
Vs. VSU
The Hawks rolled to their first win of the season after handedly beating Virginia State University 7-0. The Hawks swept doubles action with Tadeo Missan and Marcel Ungerboeck securing a 6-0 win in the #1 position. Tadeo Sanchez and Thales Sette won the #2 doubles with a 6-0 score and David De Simon and Terumasa Inoue took the #3 doubles position with a final of 6-0.
With an early 1-0 match lead, the Hawks set out to sweep singles play from top to bottom.
De Simon won the top singles position with a final score of 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) while teammate Sette
won 6-0, 6-0 at the #2 singles position. Missan took the #3 singles match 6-0, 6-1 while Inoue won the #4 singles position 6-0, 6-1. Maksim Kachuk and Sanchez took the #5 and #6 seeds matches with final scores of 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
