Wilson, N.C. - The Chowan University baseball team wrapped up their three-game league series with Barton College on Saturday evening. The Hawks dropped their first game 11-5 and battled to a 14-6 loss in the nightcap match up.
Jordan Turner continued to produce offensively after collecting three hits across two games on Saturday while Derrick Davis belted a homerun and collected three walks in game two.

Chowan battled over the three game series, dropping the first game of Saturday's series 11-5 and the nightcap 14-6. Jordan Turner led the Hawks offensive attack after going 2-4 with an RBI. Jacob Ellenburg, KJ Durand, Jr., and Derrick Davis all collected a hit in the game. Ahmaad Goldson started the game on the mound, throwing 2.1 innings before being relieved by Zach Williams. Matthew Lovitt and Kelton Taylor each threw in relief. Goldson and Williams each struck out three batters.
Barton used a seven run 5th inning to gain an advantage over the Hawks in the nightcap. Derrick Davis opened the Hawks first at-bat with a solo homerun to get on the board. Landon Carnley collected two hits in the game while Durand, Jr. collected a hit and drove in two runs. Goldson also accounted for two RBI in the game. Tristan Stancil started the game for the Hawks on the mound, throwing 3.1 innings. Cody Ives, Kelton Taylor, Teray Cherry, Ethan Pukas, and Zackary Wilson each threw in relief of Stancil.
UP NEXT
Chowan will host Erskine College in their next outing. The three-game Conference Carolinas series is slated to start on March 27th at 2:00pm. At 1:30pm a family rededication of Hawkins Field will take place just south the baseball press box in the area of the baseball field. First pitches will be thrown by members of the Hawkins Family. Jerry Hawkins ('36-'25) served as Chowan's baseball head coach for 32 seasons. He held several positions on the campus of Chowan and was a steady presence in the community, serving on the volunteer rescue squad and in many civic and church organizations.
