YOUNG HARRIS, GA. - The Chowan University softball team dropped a Conference Carolinas doubleheader to Young Harris College on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks fell 4-2 in game one, scoring in the fourth and fifth innings, before falling 7-1 in game two, with a run scored in the sixth. Chowan moves to 16-15 overall and 6-8 in conference play.

Game One
Kyra Helton accounted for the Hawks' first run in the fourth inning, while Ryleigh Gough added the second in the fifth following a double from Hope Soria. Helton led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with the run scored. Soria, Ava Mizell, Kaitlyn Springle, and Calliope James each recorded a hit, with Soria and Kellogg driving in Chowan's two runs.
Makenzi Curry tossed all 6.0 innings in the circle for the Hawks.
Game Two
Helton delivered an RBI single to shortstop in the sixth inning, allowing Mizell to score Chowan's lone run of the game. Mizell finished with a hit and a run scored, while Helton added a hit and an RBI. James and Springle also contributed a hit apiece.
Emily Fowler got the start in the circle, throwing 1.1 innings before Abby Rutledge took over for 4.1 innings of relief. Callie Tyndall closed out the game, recording the final out.

Chowan returns home to host Barton College on Wednesday, March 25 at the CU Softball Field. First pitch for the doubleheader is set for 1:00 PM, with game two to follow at 3:00 PM.
