WILSON, N.C. - The Chowan University baseball team opened a three-game series against Barton University on Friday afternoon. Derrick Davis and Ahmaad Goldson each recorded two hits to lead the Hawks at the plate.

Davis led off the Hawks' offense with a double in the first inning and added another hit in the third. Goldson also turned in a two-hit performance, collecting singles to right center in the third and fifth innings.
Turner added a hit in the third inning, while Jacob Howard recorded a single to center field in the second. Landon Carnley rounded out the Hawks' efforts at the plate with a pinch-hit single to right center in the seventh inning.
Josh Tripp got the start on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings before Cody Ives came on in relief for 1.0 inning. Ethan Pukas followed out of the bullpen, with Dawson Wiggins closing out the game for Chowan.
UP NEXT
The Hawks will return to action on Saturday, March 20 to complete the series with a doubleheader against Barton. First pitch for game one is set for 12:00 p.m., with game two scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
