BLACKSBURG VA. – The Chowan University men's golf team sent two groups to compete in the Marlin Invitational, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan on Monday. The Hawks placed 11 golfers in the 63-player field, with Parker Brooks leading the way for Chowan after the opening round, sitting tied for eighth place.

INSIDE THE CARDS
Parker Brooks paced the Hawks after carding a 3-over-par 75 in the opening 18 holes. Brooks played steady golf across 18 holes in round one, garnering one birdie. Close behind was Justin Peterson, who finished with a 4-over-par 76 to sit tied for 11th. He carded two birdies on the day.
EJ Proctor and Harry Jones both turned in rounds of 77 to finish tied for 15th, alongside teammate Ruben Gamez-Aranda who also posted a 77 on the day. Jones finished round one with three birdies to lead the squad in one under shots for the round. Proctor picked up the Hawks lone eagle of the day, carding a 3 on the par-five second hole.
Teddy Fee followed with a 78 to land tied for 22nd, while Noah Stewart finished tied for 43rd after shooting an 83. Fee opened the day with back-to-back birdies on the 1st and 2nd holes, as Stewart added two birdies of his own in the 2nd and 4th holes.
Jacob Kearney and Landon Heller each recorded rounds of 85 to tie for 49th, while Bryce Bennett shot an 87 to sit tied for 55th. Kearney fired two birdies in the back nine holes, as Jacob Lyles rounded out the Hawks' lineup in 62nd place after carding a 95.

Chowan will wrap up play at the Marlin Invitational with the final round on Tuesday, March 17, as the Hawks return to Cypress Point Country Club for the final 18 holes.
