PEMBROKE, N.C. - The Chowan University baseball team closed out its three-game road series against #23 UNC Pembroke with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Sammy Cox Field. The Hawks dropped both contests, falling 16-0 in game one before UNC Pembroke pulled away for a 26-6 victory in the second game to complete the three-game series.

Game One
Jacob Howard and Jacob Ellenburg each recorded hits in the second inning for the Hawks.
Ahmaad Goldson started on the mound for Chowan, pitching 2.0 innings before Dawson Wiggins took over in relief for 0.2 innings. Zackary Wilson followed with 2.1 innings of work before Landon Tyndall closed out the game, tossing the final inning without allowing a hit or run while striking out one batter.
Game Two
UNC Pembroke jumped out to a two-run lead in the first inning, but the Hawks answered in the top of the second. Josh Tripp launched a home run to right field, scoring Ty Boze and tying the game at 2-2 with a two-RBI play.
Chowan added two more runs in the fourth inning as Landon Carnley and Tripp both crossed the plate after Goldson and Jacob Howard were hit by pitches with the bases loaded.
The Hawks picked up their final run in the sixth inning when Jordan Turner came around to score.
Tripp led the Hawks offensively with two hits, two runs scored, and two RBI. Payton Clay and Goldson each added two hits, while Turner, Derrick Davis, Carnley, and Boze each recorded a hit and scored a run.
Matthew Lovitt started on the mound for Chowan, pitching 1.1 innings before Zach Williams entered in relief. Tristan Stancils followed with 3.0 innings of work, while Cody Ives, Landon Tyndall, Kelton Taylor, and Andrew Sessoms combined to finish out the game.
UP NEXT
The Hawks return to action on Friday, March 20, opening a three-game series against Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m., with game two set to start at approximately 3:00 p.m.
