MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Chowan University baseball team split a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on the road against the University of Mount Olive Saturday afternoon. The Hawks jumped out to an early advantage in game one, plating three runs in the opening inning, but were unable to hold off the Trojans. Chowan responded in game two, breaking a 4-4 tie with a three-run seventh inning to secure the victory and earn the split.

In game one, Ahmaad Goldson got the offense going with a double to right center that brought home Josh Tripp. KJ Durand Jr. followed with a two-run homer to left, scoring Goldson. Goldson finished with a hit, a run, and an RBI, while Durand Jr. tallied a hit, a run, and two RBIs. Jacob Howard added a hit to round out the game.
Chowan's pitching staff delivered in game two as Goldson tossed 5.2 innings, striking out four while producing seven flyouts and six groundouts. Zach Williams recorded the win, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings without allowing a hit or run.
Offensively, Jordan Turner highlighted the effort with a two-run triple in the fifth inning to score Derrick Davis and Tripp. Turner finished with two hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Davis and Tripp each added two runs. Durand Jr. collected a hit and an RBI, driving in Tripp in the seventh. Goldson added two RBIs in the decisive seventh inning, while Nick Reiss lifted a sacrifice fly to plate Turner and Davis. Jacob Walker and Howard each recorded a hit to round out the Hawks' offensive charge in game two.
