Hawks Close Out Regular Season On the Road at UNC Pembroke

PEMBROKE, N.C. - The Chowan University men's basketball team closed out the regular season on the road Wednesday evening, falling 75-70 to UNC Pembroke in a tightly contested Conference Carolinas matchup. The Hawks and Braves battled possession-for-possession throughout the night, with neither side able to create much separation.

Chowan secured a fourth-place finish in the conference KPI standings and placed third in the East Division heading into postseason play.

Eric Gordon Jr. and Markell Hollis paced the Hawks with 17 points apiece. Gordon knocked down four three-pointers, shooting 57.1 percent from beyond the arc. Hollis added five rebounds, one assist, and a block to his stat line.

Joseph Lezeau II contributed 14 points, going 6-8 from the free-throw line while pulling down seven rebounds. He also recorded two blocks, one assist, and a steal.

William Hynes and Damerius Summers each chipped in nine points. Hynes tallied three defensive rebounds, three steals, and an assist, while Summers collected nine rebounds.

As a team, the Hawks shot 44.4 percent from the field and totaled 38 points in the paint. Chowan finished with 36 rebounds, 33 bench points, and converted 11 points off UNC Pembroke turnovers.

UP NEXT

Chowan now turns its focus to the 2025-26 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship. The Hawks will host the winner of the No. 8 seed Southern Wesleyan and No. 11 seed Francis Marion matchup on Monday, March 2, at 7:00 PM inside the Hawks Athletic Center.
