MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 64-60 victory over Young Harris College in a down-to-the-wire contest on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks faced an 11-point deficit at halftime but came back outscoring the Mountain Lions in both the third and fourth quarters, and taking back advantage of the lead with four minutes left to play. Chowan outscored Young Harris 24-11 in the final period.
Alexandria James-Fearon had a career-high performance to lead Chowan down the stretch, as four Hawks finished in double figures to secure the victory.

James-Fearon poured in 19 points, shooting a perfect 7-7 from the free-throw line. She added six rebounds, two blocks, and a steal in an all-around effort.
Yasmine Brown and Ayanna Rutledge each contributed 12 points. Brown added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Rutledge added three steals and an assist. Nyeisha Savage rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points and 14 rebounds, securing her sixth double-double of the season.
As a team, the Hawks dominated the glass with 45 total rebounds and controlled the interior with 36 points in the paint. Chowan also capitalized on second-chance opportunities with 20 points, added 16 fast-break points, and received 11 points off the bench.
