FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA– The Chowan University women's volleyball team dropped a match to conference opponent Emmanuel University with a close first-set victory before the Lions responded to secure a 3-1 decision on Friday evening at the Shaw Athletic Center.
The Hawks battled through nine ties and four lead changes in the opening set before coming out on top, 26-24. Chowan recorded 12 kills in the frame while holding Emmanuel to a .103 hitting percentage to take an early 1-0 advantage.
Emmanuel responded in the second set, using a .256 hitting percentage to even the match with a 25-14 win. The Lions carried the momentum into the third, taking the frame 25-15.
Chowan looked to extend the match in the fourth as the two sides battled through six ties and three lead changes. Emmanuel eventually pulled ahead to close out the set 25-14 and secure the match.

Madison Henderson led the Chowan attack with nine kills while also adding two block assists.
Alanna Verme followed with seven kills and two block assists, while Rosa Lynn Collier added five kills and three block assists.
Andrea Krgovic directed the Hawks' offense with 27 assists while adding seven digs and two kills.
Anna Holcombe led the defensive effort with a match-high 28 digs and added one service ace. Brooke Hart contributed 16 digs, while Kennedy Mills added eight.
Alexa Fricker recorded three kills, six digs, two service aces and a block assist, while Alauna Wilson-Linn added three kills, four digs and an ace.
As a team, Chowan finished with 35 kills, 31 assists, 76 digs, four service aces and 12 block assists.
