GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Chowan volleyball fell in a pair of non-conference matches to Carson-Newman and Glenville State on Friday to open the 2025 season at the GSU Tournament. The Hawks move to 0-2 overall, while both opponents improve to 2-0.
The Hawks will look to bounce back on day two of the tournament having two more games Saturday.

Offensively, the Hawks tallied a combined 68 kills across both matches, led by Anna Holcombe with an impressive 18. Rosa Lynn Collier was close behind, contributing 17 kills, while Makeda Edwards added 11 of her own in the second match.
Freshman Brooke Hart made a strong impact, recording 32 assists and 17 digs on the day. Defensively, Diana Rodriguez was a standout, posting 12 digs in the first match and 19 in the second.

On Saturday September 6th, Chowan will enter day two of the GSU tournament playing West Virginia Wesleyan University at 11:30 am followed by Bluefield State at 4:30pm.
