Chowan Softball Drops Both Ends of Doubleheader Against Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Chowan University softball team came up short in both games of their road doubleheader against Francis Marion on Tuesday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

In game one, Lenita Bryson led the Hawks at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 on the day. Mckenzie Misenheimer put the Hawks on the board early with a solo home run to left center in the first inning. Elizabeth Ingle delivered an RBI double to right center in the sixth inning, scoring Misenheimer. Lenita Bryson went 3-for-3.

Kendyl Elliott started in the circle and pitched 4.1 innings. Alex Bishop came in for 1.2 innings of relief, allowing just two hits and one earned run.

In game two, Ingle delivered a big swing in the third inning, launching a three-run homer to right center to bring home Misenheimer and Calliope James. In the fifth inning, Ingle singled through the left side, advancing to second on a fielding error, as Misenheimer and James scored again.

Haileigh Boone started in the circle, working through 2.1 innings. Abby Rutledge came in as relief and pitched 3.2 innings, keeping the Hawks in the game while allowing three runs on six hits.

UP NEXT

The Hawks will hit the road on Saturday, April 12th, for a Conference Carolinas doubleheader against UNCP, with games set for 2:00 and 4:00 PM at Purnell Swett High School in Maxton, N.C.
