MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University softball team split with the Emmanuel Lions in a Conference Carolinas matchup on Saturday afternoon at Hawks Field.

Ava Mizell, Lenita Bryson, Calliope James, and Mckenzie Misenheimer each tallied a hit in game one, with James also crossing the plate to score a run for the Hawks.
Alex Bishop got the start in game one and was tagged with the loss, dropping to 1-3 on the season. Kendyl Elliott and Abby Rutledge came on in relief to finish out the game.
Chowan put together a strong offensive showing to secure the win. The Hawks struck first in the fourth inning as Eryn Ingle doubled to center to bring home Misenheimer, then later scored on a single by Lenita Bryson. Chowan added to their lead in the sixth plating Ava Mizell, followed by an RBI single from Calliope James that scored Alivia Denham and moved Bryson into scoring position.
Haileigh Boone tossed a one-hit shutout, going the full seven innings with two strikeouts and no runs allowed.
