MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University baseball team won the series finale against Shorter University, in a Conference Carolinas matchup on Saturday afternoon at Hawkins Field.

Chowan's offense was strong early, with a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an RBI double by Will Bailey and a sacrifice fly from Jackson Dunlap. The Hawks added to their lead in the third as Geomar Santana and Caleb Karie both homered to give Chowan a 4-2 advantage. In the fourth, the Hawks exploded for four more runs, highlighted by a 2-RBI single from Caden Rector and a sacrifice fly by Bailey, bringing the score to 8-2. Santana also scored on a throwing error. Bailey homered again in the sixth, and Ryan Bellamy added a solo shot to center, extending Chowan's lead to 9-6.
Josh Wise earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing nine hits and five runs. Zackary Wilson picked up the save, tossing four innings of relief, giving up two hits and one run.
