Hawks Wrap Up Chowan Intercollegiate with Strong Performances, Secure Fourth Place Finish

AHOSKIE, N.C. – The Chowan University men's golf team concluded the second and final day of the Chowan Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Beechwood Country Club. The tournament featured a competitive field, including Barton, Mount Olive, Fayetteville State, Livingstone, NC Wesleyan, Elizabeth City State, and Chowan.

The Hawks competed with two teams in this two-day event. After 36 holes on day one, the second and final day featured a single round.

After the final round of the tournament, the Hawks climbed from fifth to fourth place, while Chowan B secured a sixth-place finish.

INSIDE THE SCORE CARDS

In the final round of the Chowan Intercollegiate, Jacob King and Matthew Herberger both fired even-par 72s, finishing in a tie for 14th place. King shot four birdies in a row and ended the final round with five birdies. Mika Buchholtz (76-74-74) followed with a solid 74 (+2), securing a tie for 12th. Buchholtz was the high finisher for the Hawks after three rounds. Bjoern Holt posted a 75 (+3), while Jacob Kearney rounded out the team's top scores with a 78 (+6). Their strong performances helped propel Chowan to a fourth-place finish, moving up two spots after the first two rounds. 

For Chowan B, Justin Peterson led the squad with a 69 (-3), the lowest round of the day for the Hawks. Tyler Darnell followed with a solid 76 (+4), while Noah Stewart posted an 81 (+9). Parker Brooks carded an 84 (+12), and Adam Lankford rounded out the team scoring with an 85 (+13). Their efforts secured a sixth-place finish for Chowan B in the tournament.

UP NEXT 

The Hawks will return to action on Monday, April 7th, at the Trojan Invitational, hosted by Virginia State at Walnut Creek Country Club in Goldsboro, N.C. This final regular season tournament will serve as a warm up for the Conference Carolinas Championship April 12th in Spartanburg, S.C.
