Hawks Split Home Doubleheader Against UNC Pembroke

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University softball team split their home doubleheader against UNC Pembroke in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

In the Hawks' victory over the Braves, Mckenzie Misenheimer delivered a single to left field, driving in a run. In the second inning, Calliope James walked with the bases loaded, adding another run to the scoreboard. Elizabeth Ingle followed suit in the fifth, doubling to left-center to bring in a run. The sixth inning saw Kyndal Hopkins, Misenheimer, and Kaitlyn Springle each contribute with RBI, further extending the Hawks' lead.

Alex Bishop started the game on the mound, pitching three innings. Kendyl Elliott came in for relief, earning the win and improving to 1-0 on the season. Abby Rutledge closed the game, securing her first save of the season on Wednesday afternoon.

In game two, the Hawks' offense began in the third inning when Kyra Helton crossed the plate on a throwing error. Ava Mizell added another run in the fifth, singling through the left side. In the seventh inning, Elizabeth Ingle followed with a single to left field, driving in another run.

Haileigh Boone took the loss on the mound, falling to 4-7 on the season after pitching two innings. Abby Rutledge, Makenzi Curry, and Kendyl Elliot each provided relief appearances for the Hawks.

The Hawks will return to Hawks Field for a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Friday, March 28th, facing the Barton Bulldogs. The games are scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
