Chowan Softball Drops Doubleheader to North Greenville

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University softball team dropped both games of their road Conference Carolinas doubleheader against North Greenville on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Kyra Helton, Calliope James, and Kaitlyn Springle each recorded hits for the Hawks in game one. The Hawks also stole four bases in the game. Haileigh Boone started on the mound, taking the loss and dropping her record to 4-6 on the season. Abby Rutledge and Kendyl Elliott pitched in relief.

In game two, Makenzi Curry scored on a wild pitch in the second inning. In the third inning, Elizabeth Ingle singled to right center, driving in a run, followed by Curry, who singled to right to bring in another. Lenita Bryson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, earning an RBI, while Kaitlyn Springle and Kyra Helton both walked with the bases loaded, each recording an RBI. In the sixth inning, Curry singled down the right field line to drive in another run.

On the mound for the Hawks, Alex Bishop pitched through two innings. In relief, Curry, Rutledge (who took the loss, dropping her record to 2-3 on the season), Haileigh Boone, Calliope James, and Kendyl Elliot all made appearances.

UP NEXT

The Hawks will be back at Hawks Field for a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Wednesday, March 26th against the UNC Pembroke Braves scheduled for 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
