MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University baseball team fell in both games of their home Conference Carolinas doubleheader against the UNC Pembroke Braves on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
In game one, the scoring began in the first inning when Geomar Santana came home on a wild pitch. Ryan Bellamy then hit a sacrifice fly to score Elvis Rumaldo. In the fourth, the Hawks' Caleb Karie drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk, followed by Caden Rector, who was hit by a pitch to bring in another run. In the seventh, Noah Simpson launched a two-run homer to left field for the Hawks.
Angel Diaz started on the mound for the Hawks, pitching the first three innings and taking the loss, which dropped his record to 0-4 on the season. Landon Tyndall provided an inning of relief, followed by Gabe King with another inning. Matthew Lovitt and Cody Ives then closed out the game for the Hawks.
In game two, Chowan's offense kicked off in the first inning when Ryan Bellamy doubled to left center, driving in a run. The scoring continued in the second inning with Warren Bailey launching a solo home run to right field. Christopher Rumaldo then singled to left, driving in two more runs. In the eighth inning, Nick Cleghorn was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing in another run. In the ninth, Kevin Miranda singled up the middle, adding one more run for the Hawks.
Josh Wise started game two on the mound, taking the loss and bringing his record to 1-4 on the season. He pitched five innings, allowing five hits and six earned runs. Zackary Wilson, Teray Cherry, Alex Brown, Nicolas Cataldo, and Konnor Tomczak all made appearances in relief for the Hawks.
