MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University baseball team suffered a defeat to UNC Pembroke on Friday afternoon, kicking off their home Conference Carolinas series at Hawkins Field.

The Hawks' lone run came in the third inning when Caden Rector blasted a solo home run to left field. Elvis Rumaldo and Geomar Santana each recorded a stolen base, with Rumaldo swiping two bags and Santana stealing one.
Nicky Wohleking got the start on the mound and took the loss, dropping his record to 0-4 on the season. Dylan Nickle, Josh Tripp, and Nicholas Mason came on in relief for the Hawks.
