MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University baseball team hosted the Kutztown Golden Bears at Hawkins Field for a non-conference matchup, with the Hawks securing a 9-7 victory.

The Hawks' offense kicked off when Elvis Rumaldo hit a solo home run to left center in the first inning, tying the game at 1-1. They took the lead in the second when Joshua James hit a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing in a run and making it 2-1. In the fifth, Rumaldo drove in another run, putting the Hawks ahead 3-2. The sixth inning was a big one for Chowan, as Ben Bausas hit a double down the left field line, driving in two runs. James followed with another sacrifice fly, and Josh Tripp reached on a bunt single, scoring another run to make it 7-5. In the seventh, Bausas singled to right field to drive in a run, and Ethan M. Robinson scored on a passed ball, adding to the Hawks' lead.
Wednesday afternoon saw a parade of pitchers on the mound for the Hawks. Landon Tyndal earned the win in relief, taking over for Jacob Walker in the fifth inning. Dylan Nickle started the game for Chowan, pitching a solid first inning and allowing just one run. Gabe King followed in the second, with Nick Cataldo taking the mound in the third. Alex Brown pitched the fourth, while Zackary Wilson handled the fifth. Cody Ives, Josh Tripp, and Teray Cherry each pitched an inning to close out the game, contributing to the Hawks' victory.
