MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University softball team fell to the Patriots in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Hawks Field.

The scoring for the Hawks in game one began in the fourth inning when Elizabeth Ingle singled up the middle, driving in a run. In the seventh inning, Lenita Bryson and Kyndal Hopkins launched back-to-back home runs to add to the scoreboard.
Haileigh Boone was charged with the loss on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up four hits, three runs, and striking out two batters. She drops to 4-5 on the season with the loss.
The Hawks started their scoring in game two when Bryson drove in Ava Mizell in the 4th inning. Ingle then singled up the middle scoring another run for the Hawks.
Alex Bishop started game two on the mound, going four innings and allowing eight hits, which resulted in her falling to 0-2 on the season. Abby Rutledge then relieved Bishop, pitching two innings in the contest.

The Hawks will resume conference play on Friday, March 21st, at 1:00 PM in Banner Elk, N.C., where they will face Lees-McRae.
