MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Conference Carolinas announced its November Freshman of the Month selections on Friday, with Chowan's
Vanja Romic earning the honor for Women's Swimming. The Subotica, Serbia native has already proven to be a steady and high-impact presence in the pool for the Hawks.
Romic has posted multiple event victories throughout November and is establishing herself as one of the conference's most dominant breaststroke specialists. Across three meets this month, she collected four individual wins while also contributing to several strong relay performances.
She opened the season with an impressive showing at Chowan's home dual meet against William Peace, earning decisive victories in the 100 Breaststroke (1:21.54) and 200 Breaststroke (3:03.62). Romic also played key roles in relay success, helping the Hawks win the 200 Medley Relay (2:19.14) and anchoring the 200 Freestyle Relay (2:02.33).
Romic continued her strong form the following week at Barton, claiming another victory in the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.06) and placing second in the 100 Freestyle (57.06)—her fastest freestyle time of the month. She once again anchored the breaststroke leg on the Hawks' 200 Medley Relay, contributing to a runner-up finish.
She closed the month with a standout performance at the King Mid-Season Invitational, where she delivered her best swim yet. In a competitive field featuring multiple regional programs, Romic captured the 100 Breaststroke title with a season-best 1:06.15, breaking a five-year-old Chowan program record. Her victory stood as one of Chowan's top results of the invitational.
Through consistent top finishes, significant time drops, and major contributions in both individual and relay events,
Vanja Romic has quickly established herself as one of Conference Carolinas most dominant freshmen.
