MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University women's basketball team dropped a 52-51 decision to Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon. The tightly contested game saw eight lead changes and 13 ties through forty minutes of play. The 13th and most critical game tying score came when Nyeisha Savage grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a lay up to knot the game at 51 with :30 left in the final quarter. On the ensuing possession, Emmanuel's Naomi Roberts drew a foul with :04 left in the game and hit 1-2 from the line to give the Lions the narrow win.
Chowan got a double-double performance out of junior forward Nyeisha Savage. The Suffolk native hit 6-12 from the floor for 13 points and grabbed 10 boards in the game.

Yasmin Brown continued to take care of the game details after getting a game-high six steals. She also scored 11 points, had four rebounds, and dished out three assists in the game. Desiree Askew chipped in seven points and had four rebounds in the game.
Chowan shot 35% from the floor with a 19-55 shooting performance. The Hawks hit 11-13 from the charity stripe and picked up 34 of their 51 total points inside the paint. Chowan got up and down the floor to convert 13 fast break points and held Emmanuel to just two fast break points. Brown's six steals marked a season high for her through eight games played this season.
