FERRUM, VA. – The Chowan University men's basketball team rallied to secure a win over new conference opponent Ferrum College. After falling behind early in the first half, the Hawks found their rhythm back going on a 8-0 scoring run to tie the game heading into halftime. Chowan carried the momentum into the second half, maintaining control to earn an 84-71 victory.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Damerius Summers led Chowan with 23 points in just 20 minutes on 9-11 shooting. He also added seven rebounds, an assist, a block, and went 1-1 from three while making 4-5 from the free-throw line. Joseph Lezeau II provided a spark off the bench, contributing 18 points in 17 minutes. Entering late in the first half, Lezeau scored eight quick points over seven minutes to tie the game at 32-32 heading into halftime. He finished 7-8 from the field, 2-3 from three-point range, and 2-3 from the free-throw line, along with three rebounds.
William Hynes offered steady scoring, finishing with 10 points on 2-5 shooting while going 5-7 from the free-throw line and grabbing four rebounds. Dominique Bailey added seven points and four boards, Eric Gordon Jr. tallied six points, five assists, and two rebounds, and Damien Robinson chipped in five points with four rebounds.
The Hawks shot an efficient 54.5% (30-55) from the field, including 46.2% (6-13) from beyond the arc, and converted 75% of their free throws (18-24). Chowan dominated the paint with 44 points, collected 39 rebounds—including 10 on the offensive glass for 14 second-chance points—and pulled down 29 defensive boards. The Hawks also scored six fast-break points and added five points off turnovers, building a second-half lead and holding Ferrum at bay to secure an 84-71 victory.

Chowan will travel to Francis Marion University for the Thanksgiving Classic on Friday, November 28, and Saturday, November 29. The Hawks are scheduled to face Lander University at 5:00 PM on the first day of the tournament.
