BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Chowan University men's basketball team opened conference play on the road Saturday afternoon with a dominant 104–80 victory over Lees-McRae. The Hawks built a 22-point halftime lead behind a fast-paced, efficient offense, controlling the game from start to finish.
Damerius Summers led the way with a career high, posting a double-double and leading the balanced scoring attack.

Damerius Summers led all scorers with 25 points and 13 rebounds, including 10 on the defensive end. He scored 12 points in the first six minutes and finished with 10–14 shooting, all in 23 minutes of play.
Eric Gordon Jr. contributed 18 points, six assists, and four steals, knocking down three three-pointers. Dominique Bailey added 12 points, going 3-4 from beyond the arc, while Damien Robinson posted 10 points and six rebounds. William Hynes added seven points, five rebounds, and five assists.
The Hawks bench combined for 32 points, led by Markell Hollis and Joseph Lezeau II with seven points each.
Chowan shot 60% (39-65) from the floor, 56% (14-25) from the line, and 50% (12-24) from three-point range. The Hawks dominated inside with 48 points in the paint and controlled the glass with 51 total rebounds, including 12 offensive boards that led to 13 second-chance points. Chowan also converted 15 points off turnovers and scored 22 fast-break points, maintaining the lead throughout to secure the win.
