MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University women's basketball team rolled to a 72–56 victory over Elizabeth City State University in non-conference action Wednesday evening. The Hawks set the tone early and never let up, maintaining control of the game from start to finish. With the win, Chowan improves to 2–0 on the season and heads into conference play riding a two-game winning streak.

The Hawks delivered a balanced team performance to secure the win. Yasmine Brown led the offense with 15 points, shooting 3–5 from the floor and an efficient 9–13 at the stripe, while also adding four rebounds and two assists. Wisdom Banks posted a season-high 14 points on 6–13 shooting, knocking down her lone three-point attempt and securing six steals, five assists, and two rebounds. Ayanna Rutledge made a strong impact as well, going 4–7 from the field and a perfect 2–2 at the line, while collecting six steals and three defensive boards. Alexandria James-Fearon added a seamless 4–4 shooting effort, paired with four rebounds, four steals, an assist, and a block.
As a team, Chowan shot 43.4% (23–53) from the field and 65% (24–37) at the free throw line. The Hawks dominated the inside with 30 points in the paint, pushed the tempo for 17 fast-break points, and capitalized on Vikings miscues to score 31 points off turnovers. Chowan also added 11 second-chance points and received 21 points from the bench to round out the impressive night.
