MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University volleyball team secured a straight-set victory over Young Harris College on Friday evening. The Hawks opened with a 25-21 win in the first set, followed by a dominating 25-8 performance in the second. Young Harris responded with a strong effort in the third, but Chowan held its ground to secure the match with a 28-26 decision.
With the victory, the Hawks improve to 3-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play, while the Mountain Lions fall to 4-11 on the season and 1-6 in league action.

The Hawks had an incredible night both offensively and defensively. Gabriella Figueroa led the attack with 11 kills, as both Rosa Lynn Collier and Anna Holcombe were right there with 10. Madison Henderson also included six of her own to keep the attack hot. Brooke Hart added to the offense with a match high 20 assists and Alexandra Liggeri was close behind with 14. Diana Rodriguez collected two service aces, while Jadyn Brown, Holcombe, Hart, and Figueroa added one apiece.
Defensively, Diana Rodriguez led the effort with a match-high 35 digs, followed by Anna Holcombe with 11 and Jadyn Brown with 10. At the net, Madison Henderson and Rosa Lynn Collier each registered two blocks, while Holcombe and Gabriella Figueroa added one apiece.
