MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University volleyball team opened strong but was edged in four sets by Conference Carolinas opponent Shorter University on Saturday afternoon. Chowan took the first set 26-24, before Shorter rallied to claim the next three and secure the win.
With the setback, Chowan moves to 3-13 overall and 2-6 in Conference play, while Shorter improves to 8-5 overall and 7-1 in league action.

As a unit, Chowan totaled 45 kills, 44 assists, 69 digs, and nine total blocks.
Leading the offensive effort was Anna Holcombe with 16 kills, followed by Rosa Lynn Collier with 10, and Gabriella Figueroa and Makeda Edwards adding six each. Brooke Hart directed the attack with 21 assists and added a service ace, while Alexandra Liggeri contributed 18 assists to keep the offense flowing. Figueroa and Holcombe also recorded one ace apiece.
On the defensive side, Jadyn Brown led the team with 23 digs, followed by Diana Rodriguez with 21 and Holcombe with 10. Hart would also contribute to the defensive effort with 8 digs of her own. At the net, Madison Henderson and Figueroa each posted three blocks, while Collier added two.
