CU Swimming Competes at UNC-Pembroke Quad

PEMBROKE, N.C. - The Chowan University swimming team competed at UNC-Pembroke on Saturday afternoon. The Chowan men's team competed against Converse University and Barton while the women's matched up against UNC-Pembroke and Converse. Robert Liz Cabrera and Michael Grenier picked up events wins for the Hawks on the men's side while newcomer Sara Turanjanin placed in the top three in backstroke in her season debut.

INSIDE THE RESULTS 

The Hawks took 4th place in the 400 IM relay to open the meet for both the men's and women's teams.  Sara Taranjinan, Vanja Romic, Hasnae Idrissi, and Lina Danna posted a time of 4:27.15. while on the men's side Robert Liz Cabrera, Aleksei Belolipetskii, Michael Grenier, and Dimitrije Markovic touched the wall at 3:43.78. Cabrera took 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle after finishing with a time of 48.78. Michael Grenier posted a top three time in the 50 yard breast stroke while Quintin Mitchell touched the wall just out of third place, in fourth, at 25.20 in the 50 yard butterfly. Aleksei Belolispetskii finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.36. Emma Rooney finished in 4th place in the 500 yard freestyle while Michael Grenier took home the top spot on the men's side of the 500 yard free with a time of 5:07.69. Robert Liz Cabrera touched the wall at 21.77 to take the top finish in the 50 yard freestyle, the Hawks second top finish of the meet. 

Wrapping up the meet, Romic, Rooney, Idrissi, and Danna finished the meet up in 5th place in the 400 yard relay while the men's team of Stefan Reedy, Markovic, Liz Cabrera, Belolipetskii finished in 2nd place in the 400 yard freestyle relay. 

UP NEXT 

The Hawks will host Peace College in their home season debut on Saturday, November 1st. The meet is set to start at 1:00pm at the Bynum Brown Aquatic Center on the campus of Chowan University.
