BELMONT, N.C. – The Chowan University volleyball team competed in a competitive four-set match on Friday evening, ultimately falling to Belmont Abbey College. The Hawks opened strong, taking the first set 26-24, but the Crusaders responded to claim the next three by narrow margins of four, eight, and five points, respectively. With the result, Chowan moves to 5-17 overall and 4-10 in conference play, while Belmont Abbey improves to 10-12 on the season and 6-9 in league action.

Anna Holcombe and Madison Henderson led the Hawks attack with nine kills apiece, while Gabriella Figueroa added five. Lyniah Lee, Rosa Lynn Collier, and Madison Kilgore each contributed four kills to balance the offense. Alexandria Liggeri directed the attack with 20 assists, while Brooke Hart chipped in nine. Liggeri and Holcombe also delivered three service aces each to round out a strong offensive effort.
On the defensive end, Diana Rodriguez led all players with 30 digs, followed by Holcombe with 14 and Hart with seven. At the net, Collier and Henderson each recorded three blocks, while Kilgore and Figueroa added one apiece.
