MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2025-2026 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week.
 
For the week of October 15 – October 22, Chance Lassiter of the men's golf team and Destiny Makanjuola of the women's soccer team, have been recognized for their standout performances over the past week of competition.
 
Chance Lassiter | Freshman | Men's Golf | Rich Square, North Carolina
At the Patriot Fall Classic hosted by Lander University in Hartsville, N.C. from October 20–21, freshman Chance Lassiter delivered a standout performance in his debut collegiate season by recording a hole-in-one. Competing as an individual, Lassiter tied for 55th in a field of 113 golfers after posting rounds of 74-74-76. His ace came during the second round on a 188-yard par-3 hole, marking a highlight in his early career.

Destiny Makanjuola | Senior | Women's Soccer | Defender | Peterborough, England
Makanjuola delivered a standout defensive performance in Chowan's 1–0 shutout victory over conference opponent UNC Pembroke. She consistently disrupted the Braves attacking efforts, deflecting multiple advances and denying UNC Pembroke's progress towards the Hawks goal. Her aggressive play in 1-on-1 situations helped Chowan regain possession and maintain control throughout the match, contributing significantly to the shutout.
