MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2024-2025 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week.
For the week of January 25th - 31st, Aislinn Kessinger from the CU women's swim team and Cheick Traore from the men's basketball team have earned honors for their efforts on their respective teams during the past week of play.
Aislinn Kessinger | Senior | Women's Swimming | Everett, Washington
Aislinn Kessinger has earned the Chowan Athletics Ace Hardware Player of the Week honor in recognition of her performances in the pool. During the Senior Day double dual meet on January 25th against Lees-McRae and Virginia Wesleyan, Kessinger secured first place in the women's 100 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:06.26. She followed up with another victory in the women's 50 SC Meter Freestyle, clocking in at 29.75.
Cheick Traore | Senior | #24 | Center | Men's Basketball | Charlotte, N.C.
Senior men's basketball player Cheick Traore has been named the Chowan Athletics Ace Hardware Player of the Week, honoring his performances on the court. In the Hawks' victory over Belmont Abbey, Traore contributed seven points and seven rebounds. During the Hawks' overtime win against Francis Marion on January 29th, the senior tallied 12 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks, recording his first double-double since February 19, 2022, when he grabbed 17 rebounds and scored 14 points against North Greenville.
