MURFREESBORO, N.C. – On Saturday afternoon, the Hawks defeated Belmont Abbey, a 16-2 team ranked at the top of the Northwest division in Conference Carolinas, inside the Hawks Athletic Center.

The Hawks defeated the Crusaders for the first time in Chowan women's basketball history this afternoon.
CU had 44 total rebounds, with 16 offensive rebounds leading to 17 second-chance points. The Hawks bench contributed 22 points. Chowan played solid defense with seven steals and six blocks.
Daneesha Briggs led the Hawks in scoring this afternoon with a season-high 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Senior Danea Mackey set a career high with 11 points, along with five rebounds. Meara Carter topped the team in rebounds with eight, while also recording eight points, two blocks, and a steal.
