Simpson, CU Women’s Lacrosse Garner IWLCA Academic Honors

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) released the 2024 NCAA Division II Academic Honor Roll and Academic Honor Squads and Conference Carolinas had 29 student-athletes and five teams honored.

The IWLCA honored 524 student-athletes from 72 different institutions on the 2024 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Belmont Abbey College and the University Mount Olive led the league with eight honorees each while Barton College had six honorees. Southern Wesleyan University followed with five student-athletes recognized while Chowan University and Converse University had one each.

Senior Kashara Simpson garnered her second postseason academic award of the year. The IWLCA honored 524 student-athletes from 72 different institutions on the 2024 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. Simpson was named to the IWLCA NCAA D2 Academic Honor Roll after posting a 3.87 cumulative grade point average. She appeared in all 12 games for the Hawks this season as a defender where she accounted for 15 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. Barton, Belmont Abbey, Chowan, Mount Olive and Southern Wesleyan were among 325 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA earned IWLCA Academic Honor Squad recognition.

This is the third year in a row that the Hawks women's lacrosse team has earned this high academic honor. Not only did the squad excel on the field, but they also achieved academic honors in the classroom. The CU women's lacrosse team finished the 2024 season with a 6-7 record, the second highest win total since the inception of the program in 2013. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
