WILSON, N.C. – Behind some dominant pitching by the Chowan Baseball team, the Hawks picked up the gutsy victory over their rival Barton in the series opener on Friday in Conference Carolinas action.

Josh Wise picked up his first collegiate victory of his career tossing 6.0 complete innings allowing two runs off two hits with three strikeouts forcing the Bulldogs to manufacture runs.
Angel Diaz picked up his fourth save of the season allowing one hit in the final three innings of action. Diaz stranded the tying and winning runs in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth.
Geomar Santana and Ryan Bellamy picked up two hits each as the Hawks outhit the Bulldogs 9-3. Bellamy picked up a RBI.
Patrick Krack, Dawerlyn Amancio, Ethan Robinson, Caleb Karie, and Elvis Rumaldo tallied one hit each. Amancio tallied two RBI to lead the team.
Chowan scored all three runs in the top of the third inning after Barton scored one in the second inning. Elvis Rumaldo picked up a single before Geomar Santana drew a walk and Patrick Krack was hit by a pitch. Dawerlyn Amancio picked up a two RBI single to right before Ryan Bellamy hit a sacrifice fly.
Barton closed the gap to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run.
