MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball's late inning rally was not enough to battle back in the opening game of the Conference Carolinas series against Francis Marion on Sunday afternoon.

Francis Marion would take a 6-1 lead following a wind-aided grand slam in the top of the eighth inning.
Chowan rallied to score twice in the eighth and ninth innings before falling just short.
Christian Bartholomew led the Hawks at the plate going 2-3 with a home run, double, and a walk to go with two RBI. Dawerlyn Amancio picked up two hits with a home run and a RBI.
Jackson Dunlap and Ty Johnson added one hit each. Geomar Santana and Caleb Karie picked up a RBI.
Dylan Nickle and Jayden Bailey tallied one scoreless inning each.
