WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team opened up the New Year on the wrong end of the rivalry against Barton as the Hawks dropped their first Conference Carolinas contest of the season on Wednesday evening.

Chowan turned the ball over 14 times in the first half leading to 21 points for the Bulldogs. The Hawks finished with 24 turnovers.
Yasmine Brown led the Hawks with 13 points, while Meara Carter came off the bench to post 11 points.
Desiree Askew added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Daneesha Briggs tallied a career-high 10 points.
