MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team shot a season-high 26 free throws and connected on 96.2% of those but was not enough against divisional opponent UNC Pembroke in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday evening.

Tynasia Bunting led the Hawks with 25 points and went 10-10 from the charity stripe. Yasmine Brown picked up 11 points.
Desiree Askew added seven points and hauled in 14 rebounds.
UNC Pembroke shot a blistering 75% (9-12) from the floor in the fourth quarter, scoring 30 points. The Hawks scored 27 points in the third quarter.
The Braves went on a 12-4 run in the fourth quarter to take a sizable lead. Yasmine Brown hit a jumper to cut the deficit to one, 72-71, with 1:23 remaining.
The Hawks went 0-3 from the floor down the stretch.
