Chowan Drops Series Finale Against #1 Crusaders

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Chowan Baseball team dropped the final game of the series to defending national champion and top-ranked North Greenville on Friday afternoon.

Warren Bailey and Caleb Karie collected two hits each.  Jackson Dunlap went 1-2 with two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

North Greenville scored seven runs in the opening two innings of the contest before the Hawks collected their first hit.  Ty Johnson posted a single to left field after a 14-pitch at-bat.  Noah Evington drew a walk before a trio of strikeouts ended the inning.

After the Crusaders went up 9-0, the Hawks would get on the board in the fourth inning.  Tyler West drew a walk, Warren Bailey hit a single, and Jackson Dunlap was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  West would score on a passed ball.

NGU added four runs in the fourth before the Hawks posted another run.  Caleb Karie singled and Geomar Santana and Tyler West drew walks to load the bases.  Warren Bailey singled to plate a run before the second runner was thrown out at the plate.  Aidan Feather drew a walk to load the bases again before Jackson Dunlap singled up the middle to plate a pair to trail 13-4.

The Crusaders finished off the contest with eight runs over the next four innings to take the victory, 21-4.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns home to take on Emmanuel in a league series with game one on Friday, April 14.  First pitch is slated for 3pm.
