TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Chowan Baseball team limited the scoring of the defending national champion and top-ranked team in the country, North Greenville, in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Thursday.

Jackson Dunlap paced the Hawks going 5-7 at the plate. Geomar Santana, Aidan Feather, and Caleb Karie picked up two hits each.
Christian Bartholomew, Warren Bailey, Patrick Krack and Rowan Hudson tallied one hit each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 1, North Greenville 5
Christian Bartholomew and Warren Bailey picked up singles in the top of the first inning but were left stranded.
North Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a triple and a sac fly. The Crusaders would add a pair of runs in the third on two hits to lead 3-0.
The Crusaders posted two runs in the sixth to push their lead to 5-0.
Chowan looked to rally in the seventh inning as Rowan Hudson and Jackson Dunlap singled before Ty Johnson posted a sacrifice bunt but a pair of strikeouts ended the rally.
Jackson Dunlap started the ninth inning with a base hit and moved to second on a wild pitch. Caleb Karie drew a walk and Geomar Santana reached on an infield single to load the bases. Tyler West drew a bases loaded walk to plate the only run for the Hawks.
Game Two: Chowan 1, North Greenville 8
North Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a solo home run.
Chowan would answer in the second inning as Jackson Dunlap doubled down the right field line. Dunlap moved to third on a ground out before scoring on Ty Johnson's single. Patrick Krack and Geomar Santana picked up singles to load the bases before the end of the rally.
The Crusaders would break the tie in the fourth inning plating a pair off three hits to lead 3-1. NGU posted five runs in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 8-1.
