MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team picked up a split against their rivals, Mount Olive, on Wednesday evening on the road to snap a modest losing streak in Conference Carolinas action.

Bailey Wilcox picked up the win after limiting the Trojans to two hits. Kendyl Elliott secured the victory with a save.
Mckenzie Misenheimer picked up two hits in the first game and two walks in nightcap. Peyton Rockwell went 1-1 with two walks in the nightcap.
Megan Leon, Lindsey Richter, Serena Riley, Tessa Nicholson, Abbie Sutton and Kyra Helton tallied one hit each. Riley drew three walks while Kira Soodek drew two walks and two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 3, Mount Olive 2
Chowan looked to get on the board in the top of the first as Mckenzie Misenheimer reached on a single and stole second. Serena Riley was hit by a pitch before the pair performed a double steal, but was left stranded.
Mount Olive took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly. The Hawks would rally in the top of the third as Megan Leon doubled to start the inning. Serena Riley singled to left allowing Leon to score. Tessa Nicholson hit a sacrifice fly to put the Hawks up 2-1.
Bailey Wilcox would limit base runners for most of the contest. Chowan would add the winning run in the top of the seventh as Mckenzie Misenheimer singled to left to start the inning. Megan Leon moved the runner on a sac bunt before Lindsey Richter plated Misenheimer on a single to right center. The Hawks would load the bases on a Serena Riley walk and Tessa Nicholson's single but would leave the bases loaded.
A walk and a base hit would plate a run for the Trojans in the bottom of the seventh to cut the deficit to 3-2. A pair of walks would put the tying run at third base, but Kendyl Elliott would get a pop-up to end the contest.
Game Two: Chowan 2, Mount Olive 10
Chowan would take an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Tessa Nicholson, Serena Riley, and Lindsey Richter loaded the bases with two-out walks. Kira Soodek hit a single to center to plate a run as the second runner would be thrown out at the plate.
Mount Olive would quickly respond in the bottom of the inning with a three-run home run to lead 3-1.
The Hawks would claw back in the top of the fourth inning as Hannah Moseley and Peyton Rockwell drew one-out walks. Abbie Sutton would deliver a pinch hit bunt single to load the bases before Mckenzie Misenheimer hit a sacrifice fly to close the gap to 3-2.
Mount Olive added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with four runs to lead 7-2. UMO tacked on in the bottom of the sixth to pick up the run-rule victory.
