BELMONT, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team dropped a pair of league contests on the road against Belmont Abbey on Friday afternoon.

Haleigh Reid and Kyra Helton picked up three hits each as Reid notched a double. Peyton Rockwell, Serena Riley, and Mckenzie Misenheimer posted two hits each. Misenheimer collected a home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 1, Belmont Abbey 5
Belmont Abbey took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on two hits and an error.
Serena Riley and Katelyn Matheny posted a pair of hits in the second but were left stranded.
The Crusaders added a run in the third inning on a solo home run to lead 3-0.
The Hawks closed the gap in the fourth inning as Caston Garland reached on a single to left. Kyra Helton reached on an infield and allowed the runner to score on a throwing error trying to get the speedy Helton to trail 3-1.
BAC added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth to lead 5-1.
Game Two: Chowan 4, Belmont Abbey 8
Mckenzie Misenheimer sparked a rally in the first inning of the night cap with a single and stole second. Haleigh Reid picked up a single to center before Serena Riley's sac fly plated the opening run of the contest.
Chowan added to their lead in the third inning as Haleigh Reid drew a walk before Serena Riley doubled to right center. Kira Soodek produced a RBI ground out to lead 2-0.
Belmont Abbey cut into the deficit in the third inning with a solo home run.
Chowan countered in the fifth inning with a pair of runs to lead 4-1. Mckenzie Misenheimer started the rally with a lead-off home run. Haleigh Reid singled up the middle before Serena Riley drew a walk. A sacrifice bunt pushed runners into scoring position before Tessa Nicholson hit a sac fly to extend the lead.
The Crusaders rallied with a pair in the fifth to cut the deficit to 4-3 on a two-run home run. BAC posted five runs in the sixth inning with two-outs to take an 8-4 advantage.
