TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Chowan Softball team wrapped up their 2023 season with a twinbill loss on the road to North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORES
Kira Soodek and Mckenzie Misenheimer led the Hawks with two hits each. Soodek hit her first career home run.
Kaitlyn Matheny, Peyton Rockwell, and Lindsey Richter picked up one hit each. Serena Riley recorded a pair of walks with two runs scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 2, North Greenville 10 (5)
North Greenville jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Kira Soodek put the Hawks on the board with a solo home run in the top of the second to cut the deficit to 5-1.
NGU answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 8-1.
The Hawks would manufacture a run in the fourth inning as Serena Riley started a two-out rally with a walk. Kira Soodek picked up a single before the Hawks benefited from an error. Kaitlyn Matheny singled to plate a run to trail 8-2.
The Crusaders used a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to lead 10-2.
Game Two: Chowan 2, North Greenville 12 (5)
Chowan would take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Mckenzie Misenheimer singled and stole second. A wild pitch allowed Misenheimer to come around to score for the early advantage.
North Greenville answered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning to lead 2-1. The Crusaders added a run in the second to lead 3-1.
The Hawks would chip away at the deficit in the fourth as Serena Riley drew a lead-off walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. A throwing error allowed Riley to come around to score to cut the deficit to 3-2.
NGU grabbed the run back in the bottom of the inning before plating eight runs on four hits in the fifth inning to take the run-rule victory.
