Chowan Gives Trojans A Fight, Falls 11-9

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team battled tough against Mount Olive in the regular season finale on the road in a competitive 11-9 defeat.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Noah Jalal paced the Hawks with four points with a hat-trick and an assist.  Jaxon Martin connected for a hat-trick.

Eric George added two goals and one assist.  Erik Dozzi collected one goal and one assist.  Harrison Buckman notched one assist.

Jaxon Martin and Eric George become the first Chowan players to tally 50+ goals in back-to-back seasons in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In a competitive opening frame, Eric George found the back of the net to even up the score at 1-all.  Mount Olive would score to take a 2-1 advantage before Harrison Buckman found Jaxon Martin before the end of the frame on the man-up advantage to knot the score at 2-all.

Noah Jalal put the Hawks up 3-2 as the Trojans answered shortly after.  Both teams went into the halftime intermission knotted up at 3-all.

Erik Dozzi started a run for the Hawks to open the third quarter as Chowan scored three goals in less than 90 seconds.  Dozzi scored off an assist from Noah Jalal before Jaxon Martin and Jalal scored unassisted to lead 6-3.

Mount Olive answered with six straight goals before Eric George connected with Noah Jalal on the man-down opportunity to trail 9-7 at the end of the third quarter.

Jaxon Martin scored on the man-up before Eric George found the back of the net off the assist by Erik Dozzi to conclude the scoring, 11-9.

UP NEXT

Chowan earned the fifth seed in the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Championship.  The Hawks will travel to Wilson, N.C. to take on the fourth-seeded Barton on Monday, April 24.  Opening face-off is slated for 4pm.
