Developmental Baseball Falls In Championship Game To Erskine

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Chowan Developmental Baseball team fell in the Conference Carolinas Developmental Championship game against Erskine on Tuesday night, 9-2.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Chowan mustered two hits in the contest as Ethan Robinson and Jacob Walker collected one hit each.  Robinson blasted his second home run of the tournament.

Robinson, Nick Reiss, James Cottingham, Ben Bausas, Landon Oughton, and Joshua James picked up one walk each.  Daniel Paciullo added a RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Erskine would take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as a one-out triple would lead to a run.

Chowan would look to rally in the bottom of the first as Jacob Walker singled and stole second.  Ethan Robinson drew a walk before the pair moved up a base on a balk.  Erskine would get a pair of outs to end the inning.

The Fleet took advantage of an error to plate their second run of the contest to lead 2-0.

Ethan Robinson would put the Hawks on the board in the third inning with a solo blast to left field, 2-1.

Erskine would add to their lead in the fourth scoring two runs to lead 4-1.

Chowan rallied in the bottom of the fourth as Brendan Sanzo was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a pair of balks.  Daniel Paciullo grounded out to plate Sanzo and cut the deficit to 4-2.

The Fleet posted five runs in the sixth inning to take control of the contest as a home run and an error in the inning allowed the rally, 9-2.
