MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team saw their senior day spoiled by Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday.

Lindsey Richter paced the Hawks with two hits. Seniors, Haleigh Reid and Serena Riley picked up one hit each.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 4, Lees-McRae 14 – five innings
Lees-McRae took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Mckenzie Misenheimer and Tessa Nicholson were hit by pitches in the bottom of the first inning and swiped second and third respectively. Kira Soodek produced a RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Bobcats used five hits and an error to take a 6-1 advantage in the second inning. LMC continued the momentum with eight runs in the third to lead 14-1.
The Hawks cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fourth as Kira Soodek and Haleigh Reid picked up walks. Serena Riley loaded the bases after reaching on an error. Lindsey Richter grounded out to plate a run before Katelyn Matheny plated a run on an error. Serena Riley would score on a stolen base attempt to cut the deficit to 14-4.
Game Two: Chowan 1, Lees-McRae 5
Chowan jumped in front in the bottom of the first inning as Lindsey Richter singled before moving to second on Kira Soodek's sacrifice bunt. Richter moved to third on a groundout before coming around to score on Haleigh Reid's single up the middle to lead 1-0.
LMC equalized in the top of the second on a pair of hits.
The Hawks looked to rally in the third inning as Lindsey Richter singled before moving to third on Serena Riley's single up the middle. The Hawks would be stranded in scoring position.
The Bobcats would break the deadlock in the top of the seventh inning scoring four runs, with three of those coming with two outs to lead 5-1.
