BELMONT, N.C. – The fast start for the Chowan Men's Lacrosse team faded as the Hawks were dealt a 17-7 loss on the road in league play to Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon.

Jaxon Martin led the team with a hat-trick.  Eric George, Carson Moore and Erik Dozzi posted one goal and one assist each.  Rylan Downey added a goal, while Nathan Townsend and Desmond Stukes posted an assist each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After an opening goal by Belmont Abbey, Erik Dozzi would find the back of the net before Eric George found Carson Moore for a goal to lead 2-1.
The Crusaders would score eight unanswered goals in the second stanza to lead 9-2 at the intermission.
Jaxon Martin would score the next two goals for the Hawks off assists by Desmond Stukes and Erik Dozzi before Rylan Downey scored off an assist by Carson Moore to cut the deficit to 11-5.
Jaxon Martin and Eric George scored in the fourth quarter as Nathan Townsend collected an assist.

Chowan wraps up the regular season on Thursday, April 20 as the Hawks travel to Mount Olive in league action.  Opening face-off is slated for 4pm.
