HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One: Chowan 0, Francis Marion 14

Francis Marion scored five runs in the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Chowan looked to have a rally in the bottom of the first as Lindsey Richter drew a lead-off walk and stole second.  A fielding error by the pitcher allowed the inning to continue but would leave a pair of runners stranded in scoring position.

The Patriots added a run in the third inning to lead 6-0.

Hannah Moseley broke up the no-hit bid in the fifth inning with a single to right.  Kyra Helton drew a walk before the pair was stranded in scoring position.

FMU added eight runs on eight hits in the seventh inning to take the victory 14-0.

Game Two: Chowan 1, Francis Marion 18

Francis Marion took advantage of the free passes in the top of the first inning to lead 2-0.  FMU added three runs in the second inning and four in the third to lead 9-0.

Haleigh Reid hit a single up the middle for the only offense in the opening innings.

FMU took advantage of a pair of miscues in the fourth inning to lead 14-0.

Serena Riley would put the Hawks on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run through the wind to left center.

FMU tacked on four runs in the fifth to finish off the scoring.
