MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team picked up a split in Conference Carolinas action against Belmont Abbey on Friday afternoon.

Jackson Dunlap and Tyler West paced the offense with three hits each. Dunlap added two RBI. Christian Bartholomew, Geomar Santana, Aidan Feather, and Ty Johnson collected two hits apiece. Johnson posted a team-high three RBI.
Rowan Hudson collected his fourth home run of the season. Shane Rademacher picked up the win in game one. Landon Oughton recorded a save.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 8, Belmont Abbey 5
After a pair of quick innings by Shane Rademacher, Chowan gave him some run support in the bottom of the second inning. Tyler West and Jackson Dunlap started the rally with a pair of singles. Caleb Karie was hit by a pitch before a fielder's choice allowed a run to score. Patrick Krack singled to left to put the Hawks up 2-0.
The Hawks would add a run in the third inning as Aidan Feather doubled down the left field line and moved to third on a wild pitch. A throwing error allowed Feather to score to increase the lead to 3-0.
Chowan would add to their lead in the fifth inning as Christian Bartholomew singled before Rowan Hudson hit a two-run home run to center. Aidan Feather drew a walk before Tyler West doubled. Jackson Dunlap greeted the new pitcher with a double to score a pair. Ty Johnson hit a bloop single to right center to increase the advantage to 8-0.
Belmont Abbey used three wind-aided home runs in the seventh inning to cut the deficit in half, 8-4. Three walks in the eighth closed the gap to 8-5. Two walks and a single in the ninth inning forced a pitching change for the Hawks. Landon Oughton would come in and pick up a strikeout and a flyout to end the contest.
Game Two: Chowan 2, Belmont Abbey 10
Chowan would take an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Geomar Santana tripled off the center field fence. A two-out throwing error allowed Santana to score for the 1-0 advantage.
Belmont Abbey rallied to score four runs in the top of the second inning to lead 4-1. The Hawks were able to get a run back in the bottom half of the inning as Jackson Dunlap reached on an error. Ty Johnson doubled the run home to cut the deficit to 4-2. Christian Allen and Caleb Karie drew walks to load the bases before an interference call on a batted ball up the middle that would have scored two runs and even the score negated the runs and ended the rally.
The Crusaders used the momentum to plate five runs in the third inning to lead 9-2. A solo home run in the sixth finished off the scoring, 10-2.
